What can you tell us about your group’s inception? How long has it been in existence?
It was started as a way to support women authors in their journeys. Writing can be lonely, and we all need connection and cheerleaders.
We were established in March, 2023.
Does your group serve one type of writer exclusively (genre, needs, etc.)?
Yes, we are specifically women only, but do not have a genre requirement.
We feel that while men are amazing, women tend to feel more comfortable opening up if men are not present.
Do you have only members local to your “home base,” or do you also serve the broader region?
We are focused on women in Spirit Lake, Idaho and surrounding areas. We meet in person and have a Discord channel to facilitate communication, share our writing, and just chat.
What would you say is your group’s primary mission?
Our primary mission to support and inspire women authors, and encourage them to publish.
What is a typical meeting like?
We are member-led, so each meeting is slightly different, but typically we catch up on personal news then have some time for critiquing and feedback.
Occasionally, we will discuss things like publishing on different platforms, editing, and marketing, depending on the members’ needs.
Are you accepting new members? Are there requirements for membership?
Yes, we are always accepting new members.
The only requirements is to live in or near Spirit Lake and be a woman. That’s it!
What would a prospective member expect to gain after a year with your group?
We’ve only been a group for just over a year, but members have gained solid friendships, professional advice (two of our members are established authors and editors), and – we hope – motivation to continue writing.
How does a person join your group?
Just fill out the form on our site and then we will be in touch. The founders like to meet all new members prior to them attending a meeting.
