Over the years, who of us hasn’t enjoyed: Asimov’s Science Fiction, Analog Science Fiction and Fact, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine and Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine..?
And as authors, perhaps we’ve submitted to them, or plan on doing so in the future. They’ve been a benchmark in genre fiction publishing for decades.
Be aware.
Be aware that they’ve been purchased and are being run by an entirely different entity — one which (by all appearances) has vastly amended contracts with authors.
Always. Read. The. Contract.
This page on Writer Beware is an excellent, quickly read, and comprehensive explanation of what’s happening, rife with links to other authoritative sources.
I’ve heard reports of multiple professional writers who’ve ceased submitting to these magazines.
Just a “heads up” for you 🙂
