Mac Test, director of BSU’s Hemingway Center, is excited to announce the dates for the 2026 Sawtooth Writing Retreat: September 23-28, 2026. They’ve added two more days to the retreat, and are elated to welcome the 2025 Pulitzer Prize winner for a Feature Story, Mark Warren.

The Retreat is designed for adults who wish to elevate their writing skills, learn about the surrounding environment (including the night skies), and connect with a community of writers. Participants will receive instruction from authors, Kim Cross, Paul Bogard, Anna Caritj, and Matthew Denton-Edmundson, with a focus on generating and experimenting with new work. In addition to the writing, we will have guided nature walks with Dr. Jen Pierce, an evening of star-gazing, and a panel discussion with Kim Cross and Mark Warren.
